In their childhood, the Hernández brothers grew up amongst the agaves in Santiago Matatlán, and the traditions of mezcal instilled in them a deep love and pride for Oaxaca. As young adults faced with the unfavorable economic conditions of the region, they migrated, while maintaining the dream to return to their origins.

Palenque Mal de Amor is the realization of this dream. Producers of a wide variety of artisanal mezcal of the highest standard, including ILEGAL MEZCAL, the palenque is the center of its community, home to these fourth generation mezcaleros, and the ideal setting to immerse yourself in the beauty of mezcal.
